A New Chapter
The next part of our story is slowly starting...
Four years ago, Ashley was driving our bus along her route, selling smoothies to any crowd she could find. One evening, she had forgotten to pack some items into the bus for the next day of work. During this season, she ran the business all by herself… no one else was alongside her except yours truly running numbers and making emergency ingredients runs.
Vividly, I remember opening the garage just before bed and noticing her prepare. Sitting upon a cardboard box on the floor, she patiently focused on the tedious duties of her craft.
Ash and I have never seriously pondered what Edenic might be in the future. Instead, we’ve tried our best to be faithful with what the Lord has given us to be good stewards of each day, trusting Him to provide clarity and open doors in the future. Sure, from time to time we catch ourselves daydreaming about what Edenic might become in the future… but the daily question we ask ourselves is, “how can we be faithful with what God has given us today?”
In 2021, being a good steward of Edenic meant we had to be faithful with the bus. In 2023, we had to be faithful operating our cozy shop until we needed a team to help us. Then, we had to be faithful stewards of that team, teaching them how to run the shop when we couldn’t be there.
Lately Ash and I have been asking ourselves what exactly it means to be faithful stewards of the business today. What used to be a garage start-up is now a maturing project. What used to be a team of two is now a team of 11. What originally served dozens of people per week now serves hundreds. How do we respond to this provision and growth? How can we be most faithful with what God has given us today?
We are beginning to think that… maybe… the answer is to open a second location. In the foggy future we see a door appearing… Ashley and I are prayerfully walking towards and hoping to step through it.
Exactly when, where, and how we might open a second store… those are the questions we are searching for answers to. As we seek the answers, the door will become clearer and less mysterious. Whether it is wide open, barely cracked, or totally shut, we don’t know yet.
We move into this next chapter with open hearts. We will see where it leads.
